About Me

I am a recent graduate Georgia Gwinnett College, a midsize regional college in metro Atlanta, where I got my bachelor's degree in English Writing and Rhetoric with a Film minor. I am looking for meaningful work utilizing my background in PR and journalistic writing and editing. I am interested in popular culture, fashion, local news, film studies and the fantasy genre.

I have worked as a content and copywriter and editor. I finished a communications internship for GGC Public Relations, where I developed, composed, and edited news stories. The goal was for our press releases to be picked up by local and regional news outlets such as the Gwinnett Daily Post. In February, I published an article to the official GGC News page about the college’s Arbor Day tree planting ceremony. In September, I reported on GGC's Tree Campus designation by the Arbor Day Foundation, which was picked up by the AJC on Oct 11th 2021. I was also published on the Gwinnett Forum for an article about GGC Grizzly Percussion.

This fall, I worked as a student editor for GGC First-Year Seminar project, where I assisted in concision, stylistic, and formatting editing. The Open Education Resource textbook will be used to teach 24 class sections containing students, many of which are first-generation students, from across disciplines about the skills for success in college.

In addition to my practical writing experience, I have worked collaboratively and independently on news writing and editing last year for GGC's student-run newspaper, The Globe. I published several hard news articles reporting local stories to the college student and faculty such as the removal of the Lawrenceville Confederate Monument from the town square. As a film minor, I have experience analyzing and writing about classic and contemporary films.

Georgia Gwinnett College percussion club drums its way to class accreditation

The signature beat of drumming vibrates down the halls of Georgia Gwinnett College. It’s been a long time in coming for senior public administration student Hunter Mosley and his cohorts, who were eager for an outlet to express their musical creativity.

In the early days of GGC, there was no drumming club or percussion instruments. Those who were interested in drumming met periodically to play. At that time, GGC stud

Gwinnett Commissioner Proposed Decriminalization of Small Marijuana Possession Delayed

Gwinnett County Commissioner Kirkland Carden proposed a resolution in mid-February that would decriminalize marijuana possession of less than one ounce.

“I definitely wanted to get the feedback of members in our law enforcement community here in Gwinnett. I also talked to members in the legal community,” Carden said. “It kinda shocked me. Republican or Democrat–It’s just kind of [an] overwhelming unanimous feeling that, ‘Hey, this is the right move. We shouldn’t be locking people up for small m

No Decision Has Been Made About the Removed Lawrenceville Confederate Monument

County officials have still not announced a decision on what will be done with the Confederate monument that was removed from Lawrenceville square.

“[The County Commissioners] keep it top secret,” Solicitor General Brian Whiteside said. “But they offered to give it back. If those Confederate personnel want it, they can come get it.”

Gwinnett County Commissioners removed the monument on January 18th after months of petitions and a lawsuit for its removal over repeated vandalisms and reckoning w

GGC English Grads Discuss Their Experience in the Field

On March 4th, two Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) Alumni discussed their experience in the workforce post-graduation at an English Degrees at Work event, focusing on marketable skills, internships, and resources for job opportunities for English majors outside of the traditional academic and teaching avenues.

“For me, it was really about trying to show students what those opportunities are, and to be very frank, for me to learn more about [it] myself,” Benjamin O’Dell, Assistant of English Professor, said.

Georgia Gwinnett College honors faculty and staff for excellence by flipping the script

Joshua Morris, Ph.D. wants to flip the script on chemistry. Instead of typical classroom lectures on a complex subject, Morris, an associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), posts easy-to-follow chemistry tutorials on YouTube, a popular social media platform utilized by 81% of Americans.

Morris’ innovative use of technology was one of the many reasons why GGC se

Georgia Gwinnett College earns Tree Campus designation for third consecutive year

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) has been recognized as a Tree Campus for 2020, the third consecutive year by the Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to planting trees in communities around the world.

“It is important to have healthy trees and urban forests on campus because it is a way that we can combat global climate change locally and benefit from positive impacts immediately,” said Marcia Ford, director of environmental health and safety.

Fighting Isolation

The sun was bright as Sergio Gonzalez walked into his office. Thoughts of a world in the midst of a global pandemic were heavy on his mind and in his heart. As the Executive Director of Boy With A Ball San Antonio, he envisioned a new approach to Love Your City in the current health climate. In the midst of ever changing social mores—the use of face masks and gloves in public places, the need for six-feet of distance between people, the 14-day quarantine after travel—Sergio understood that one t

GGC tree planting yields lessons in sustainability, research, community service

The outdoors became a classroom last week as Georgia Gwinnett College (GCC) students, faculty and staff planted 20 apple trees at the college’s Microfarm.

Held in recognition of Georgia’s Arbor Day, the event wrapped up GGC’s Sustainability Week, an annual event which began last year, organized by members of GGC’s faculty and staff.

Senior business administration major Katherine Moron, 30, loves nature, so the event was a natural fit for her. With the recent rain, Moron knew that she was going
